Chris Hayward (Cowes) has become the 3rd person in the history of the IWGU Glyn Jones Memorial Trophies to win both Scratch and Handicap Competitions in the same year. Playing in the first group of the morning when conditions were arguably more testing he posted a superb one under par gross score of 69 at Osborne Golf Club, his handicap of 5 gave him a nett score of 64 both of which would not be bettered during the day as 100 golfers from all the Island clubs battled it out for what has become the premier 18 hole event in the Island Golfing Calendar.
The next 4 best gross scores were all posted in the afternoon as Brandon Thompson (Freshwater) placed second with a 71 and Jordan Sundborg (Shanklin and Sandown) came 3rd with a 72.
In the Handicap event Osborne Players claimed the next 3 places behind Chris as Gary Todd recorded a 65, whilst Tony Lake and Keith Williams came in with 67s.
