1.
The
Competitions are open to all full playing members from any Island Club
affiliated to the Union.
2.
The
entrance fee to the competition will be determined by the IWGU and must be paid
at the time of entry. If the entry fee
is not paid the pair or player will not be included in the draw.
3.
The
maximum entry for each competition is 128 pairs or players. If the competition is over-subscribed then a
ballot will take place in order of the highest combined or individual
handicap. The minimum entry is 16 pairs
or players, should an event be under-subscribed all entries shall be returned.
4.
Matches
shall be played in accordance with the rules of golf, IWGU standard local rules
and the local rules of the host course.
Matches shall be played over 18 holes.
In the event of the match being all square after 18 holes, it shall
continue until one side wins a hole. At
any extra holes played handicap strokes will be taken as in the prescribed
round.
5.
Matches
up to and including the quarter final round will be played at the home club of
the first named team or player in the draw.
Matches in the Semi Final and Final rounds will be played at a neutral
venue (determined by the Hon. Match Secretary) unless both pairs or players are
from the same club in which case the match shall be played at the home club.
6.
All players are
equally responsible for offering and accepting a reasonable selection of dates (one of which must include a
Saturday or Sunday) and the date selected must fall within the time limit
imposed as shown on the draw sheet. The winning player or team is responsible
for informing the Hon. Match Secretary of the result of the match within 72
hours of the completion date of the round.
Failure to offer any dates will result in disqualification of the pair
or player concerned.
7.
If
a match is not played despite the reasonable efforts of both sides, the Hon
Match Secretary will draw lots to determine who shall progress to the next
round. No player or pair will progress
through two consecutive rounds by means of such draw. No time extension will be allowed for any
reason.
8.
If
players are unable to reach agreement on any aspect of the competition an
appeal may be made through the Hon. Match Secretary to the committee of the
IWGU whose decision shall be final.
1.
Players will play
from their home club playing handicaps to a maximum of 18. Players with higher
handicaps may enter the competition but must play from the maximum handicap
allowed. A player whose handicap increases beyond 18 during the competition
remains eligible to play but must play off 18.
2.
Handicap strokes
will be taken in accordance with the stroke index table of the course where the
match is being played. The lowest
handicap player will concede strokes to the other three players based on ¾ of
the difference between their playing handicaps.
Isle of Wight Golf Union – Singles Match Play
1.
Matches are to be
played off Scratch and no handicap strokes are permitted.
2.
The draw will be
seeded with top 8 ranked entrants being placed in the draw and all other
players being drawn at random.
Isle of Wight Golf Union – Roger Webb Mixed Foursomes
1.
Players will play
from their home club playing handicaps up to a maximum of 24 for men and 30 for
ladies at the closing date of the competition.
Any player whose handicap increases beyond the maximum during the course
of the event remains eligible to play but must play off the maximum handicap
allowed.
2.
Handicap strokes
will be taken in accordance with the men’s stroke index table of the course
where the match is being played. Strokes
will be given based on ½ difference of the combined playing handicaps.
3.
All matches shall
start with the men driving from the first tee.
Isle of Wight Golf Union - Over 50s Knockout Rules
1. Clubs entering teams agree to terms of entry
a. Isle of Wight affiliated Clubs to enter members, to form teams of seven MALE players.
b. Each team should appoint a Team Captain, who will be responsible for arranging the fixtures with the other clubs in accordance with the draw, during the course of the competition.
c. An entrance fee of £20.00 (payable on entry to IWGU) must be paid in respect of each team entering the competition.
d. Clubs and team captains agree to share team captain contact details with other team captains in the competition
2. Only eligible male players are permitted to compete in teams entered by clubs
a. All players in the competition must: i. be not less than 50 years of age on 1st January 2016 ii. have a recognised Club handicap iii. be available to play on any day facilitating matches to be played Home or Away.
b. No one player shall represent more than one Club in the competition. In the event of more than one team entering from the same Club, players cannot be interchanged with other teams which are Active within the competition; players from inactive teams are available for selection by active teams.
Etiquette
All Players are asked to make initial contact with their opponents within 7 days of the publication of the draw for each round. Players who are unable to play, or away from the Island for periods of 7 or more consecutive days in any round are particularly asked to make early contact with their opponents or potential opponents to explain the difficulties and arrange the fixture for a suitable date.
