IWGU General Regulations

The Union shall be called “The Isle of Wight Golf Union” and is formed for the general encouragement and advancement of the game on the Isle of Wight.
The Union shall consist of Island Golf Clubs which are recognised as such by the Union and which are affiliated to the Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands Golf Union.
The executive Officers of the Union shall be the President, the Honorary Secretary, The Honorary Treasurer, the Honorary Match Secretary, The Honorary Secretary of the Junior section and the Honorary Auditor together with the Union Representative on the council of the Hampshire, IOW and Channel Islands Golf Union.
The Union may appoint Vice-Presidents as non executive officers, the foregoing officers shall be elected each year at the Annual General Meeting.
The management of the Union shall be vested in The Council.
The Council shall consist of the President (who shall be chairman) the other executive officers of the Union and the Captain and Secretary of each club.
At a meeting of The Council a club may be represented by another member should it not be possible for either the Captain or Secretary to attend.
A quorum shall be the President, the Hon Secretary, the Hon Treasurer and not less than 6 other members of The Council.
Each club although having 2 representatives on The Council may cast one vote only on any business which has to be decided by voting.
The Council shall meet at least once each year normally in October to coordinate interclub matches and other fixtures and such other business as may be necessary. It shall also be competent for the Hon Secretary to call a meeting of The Council at any time.
The financial year of the union shall end on the 31st December each year and the Annual General Meeting of the Union for the purpose of considering the audited accounts, electing officers, revising regulations and other business shall be held on a date in the summer determined by the Union.
Any member of an affiliated club shall be entitled to attend the AGM.
A motion for consideration by an AGM shall be submitted in writing to the Hon Secretary by at least one month before the date of the AGM and shall state the names of the Proposer and Seconder. Any such motion shall be included in the AGM agenda, which shall be sent by the Hon Secretary to all affiliated clubs before the meeting. Any amendment to such a motion may be formally proposed and seconded at the meeting.
An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Union or a special meeting of The Council may be convened at not less than 14 days notice to clubs upon receipt by the Hon Secretary of a requisition signed by the Secretaries of an 3 affiliated clubs. The notice of the meeting shall specify the resolution or resolutions proposed and to the discussion of such resolutions the business of the meeting shall be strictly confined.
A quorum shall be not less than 15 members for an Extraordinary General Meeting or 10 council members for a special meeting of The Council and no resolution shall be carried unless supported by at least 2/3 of those present and voting.
At any general meeting of the Union or at any meeting of the council the chairman shall have the right to exercise a second and casting vote in the event of the voting for and against any motion being equal.
The annual membership or life membership subscription of a vice president and the annual subscription to be paid by each recognised club for affiliation to the Union shall be of such amount as shall be determined at an Annual General Meeting of the Union. All subscriptions shall become due on 1st January in each year.
Competitions held by the union will be arranged and organised by them. Qualifications and conditions will form part of the entrance procedure issued by the competition organiser.
The Isle of Wight Golf Union may design a special tie which may be worn only by those who shall have qualified for the final of the championship or selected to represent the Island in a team selected by the union and played on at least 3 occasions and by the Officers and Ex-Officers of the Union.
All trophies within the jurisdiction of the Union shall be competed for under such conditions as may be decided by The Council.
